We would like to expand the Accounting & Controlling team within our Finance organization and we are looking for someone to lead the North American Accounting & Controlling team (currently 3 people) with passion and willingness to take on responsibility for all things accounting for the North American market.

As a digital first company, we offer greater flexibility in working locations. You would be able to work in a hybrid model from one of our locations, ideally Vancouver. Fully remote option available as well!

The role requires that you can build strong relationships in- and outside the company, move quickly, not be constrained by how things “used to be” and most importantly that you are ambitious, curious, and passionate leading a team on the one hand but also about doing accounting in general on the other hand.

Your tasks include but are not limited to:

Heading the NA accounting team
Ownership for timely and accurate financials of our NA entities (SB Inc. US, SB CA Systems Inc. and more to follow)
Oversee all full-cycle accounting processes from procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and record-to-report within NA
Coordination of local statutory (tax) reporting and corporate income tax returns with internal and external stakeholders for US and Canada
Setting up and monitoring our sales and use tax strategy including all processes & tools around evaluating US nexus positions and the collection, remittance, and reporting of local taxes
Pro-actively contribute within the global accounting team which is leading the company-wide IFRS conversion, group consolidation procedures and the general up-leveling of our accounting practices
Support the year-end close audit procedures with our Big4 auditors
Bring in your experience, ideas, and support regarding the development, optimization and documentation of internal processes and policies
Support and proactively participate in special projects such as post-merger integrations

Your profile:

CPA (or equivalent) with 5+ years of related experience (could be a team lead, and previously in accounting role progressing into a management role)
You would describe yourself as communicative, persistent and eager to improve things
Ideally experience working in Big4 (audit or tax) or field accounting in a SaaS environment
You enjoy leading a team of currently 3 accounting professionals (and growing!)
Previous exposure to IFRS standards
You have group consolidation knowledge and are willed to work yourself into the topic, group consolidation experience is a plus
You’ve been part of professional audit processes
Workday ERP experience is not a must, but also a big plus
