We're on the lookout for a Backend Engineer to join our Staffbase team and help us build an awesome internal communications platform. We are looking for empathetic and motivated team players who are motivated by growth and ownership. Let’s talk! 

As part of our tech stack, we are using: React.js, Javascript, Typescript, Tailwind CSS, Kotlin, Go, Java, MongoDB, Terraform, Docker and Playwright, to name a few.

The Team

Our team is a talented and diverse Software Engineering team, a group of passionate problem-solvers dedicated to building innovative solutions for our email product.

Our mission is to enable Communicators to leverage the full value of Staffbase Email across the Studio Platform, integrating it into other areas of the Staffbase product suite. We collaborate closely with product teams across the organization to deliver a scalable and user-centric software that makes a real impact.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design, build, and evolve backend services that power our Email product — from email data management to analytics and content generation
  • Develop and maintain scalable Go services that handle high-throughput processing, event-driven communication, and reliable integrations with external email providers
  • Contribute to a distributed system landscape built around REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, and data-intensive workloads
  • Collaborate closely with frontend engineers to enable seamless Studio integrations and deliver a cohesive user experience
  • Take ownership of features end-to-end — from concept and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement
  • Work in an agile, cross-functional team with strong code review practices and a shared responsibility for quality
  • Continuously improve reliability, observability, and performance using modern monitoring and tracing tools
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated releases, ensuring safe and frequent deployments
  • Proactively identify technical improvements and help shape the evolution of our Email domain architecture

What you need to be successful

  • Experience as a Backend Engineer, ideally with exposure to Go
  • Additional experience with Java or Kotlin is beneficial
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Passion for the things you build and want to make a difference
  • Preferably, you have worked in an agile environment before
  • You value quality as well as clean code and learning new things
  • Good English communication skills
  • You are a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding and appreciative diversity and inclusivity in the workplace
