Our rapidly expanding company, operating across diverse global territories, seeks an adept Principal Technical Accountant to join our Finance team in the Center of Operations in Chemnitz, Germany. The Record to Report (RTR) team, known for their commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement, requires a seasoned professional to influence this important function. We are looking for a candidate who possesses exceptional technical accounting skills, a robust financial process background, and a proven track record of leading audits and enhancing controls within international business context.

This is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week) reporting directly to our Senior Finance Manager - Record to Report.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Lead the preparation of Group Consolidated Financial Statements (under IFRS) for quarterly reporting (Board, Lenders, and other external stakeholders) and annual Audited Financial Statements (with notes in German language and English translation).
  • Lead the Group and Local statutory audits processes, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant accounting standards - in particular US GAAP.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on complex accounting issues, including revenue and cost recognition, leasing, Share Based Compensation, financial instruments (e.g. interest rate and FX hedging), intercompany charging and group consolidation.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in accordance with current IFRS requirements, ensuring consistency and accuracy in financial reporting across the organization.
  • Collaborate with legal tax, and operations to assess the accounting implications of complex transactions, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets, mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.  
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes, enhance reporting efficiency, and strengthen internal controls. Implement best practices to drive continuous improvement in reporting processes.
  • Lead or participate in special projects related to accounting standard updates, system implementations, or other initiatives impacting financial reporting.
  • Stay updated of new and upcoming changes in IFRS standards, interpret their impact on the organization, conduct thorough research and analysis and communicate and changes required to the Finance and company leadership team..
  • Conduct relevant training and workshops for finance and accounting teams to enhance their understanding of IFRS standards and ensure consistent application throughout the organization.

What you need to be successful

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; preference for ACA, ACCA, CPA, MBA, or relevant advanced degrees.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Consolidations and Financial reporting, with a focus on IFRS. Preferably in global business environments encompassing international legal entities.
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • High ethical standards and integrity given the importance of accurate and transparent financial reporting. Adherence to professional standards and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Proficient in Business German and Good English communication skills, enabling effective collaboration in a global setting.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, changing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., Workday, MSDynamics, NetSuite).
  • Advanced Excel skills using and understanding financial models (Balance Sheets, Cash Flows, including working capital movements, and Income Statement)
