We are seeking a motivated and skilled Sales Engineer to join our growing team in Sydney, Australia. As a Sales Engineer at Staffbase, you will help design and implement technical solutions for our employee communication and engagement platforms. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with cutting-edge technology, learning in a fast-paced environment, and collaborating with clients across diverse industries.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Partner with our Account Executives to deliver engaging demos that showcase the value of the Staffbase platform to prospective customers.
- Support prospects in identifying the best technical setup for their internal communications needs and help remove technical obstacles to advancing deals.
- Assist in technical evaluations of the Staffbase platform, learning to provide recommendations for integrations and implementation.
- Collaborate on RFP response documents to highlight the strengths of Staffbase’s solutions.
- Work alongside senior team members during kick-off calls and onboarding to ensure customers are set up for success.
- Coordinate with our post-sales Technical Support Engineers to support smooth integrations for customers.
- Provide guidance on API usage, architecture recommendations, and basic implementation approaches, with support from senior engineers when necessary.
- Assist with implementation tasks and technical troubleshooting during onboarding and early stages of adoption.
- Work closely with the Customer Success Manager and Project Manager to contribute to an excellent onboarding experience for new customers.
- Gain product expertise and become a trusted technical resource for customers, focusing on service and relationship building.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in a related role (SaaS pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical consulting).
- A foundational understanding of cloud technologies and the benefits they offer over on-premise solutions.
- Basic knowledge of web development principles and REST APIs. While full-stack engineering skills aren’t required, the ability to experiment with APIs or create simple proofs of concept is a plus.
- Familiarity with enterprise software concepts and integrations (e.g., SAP, Workday, Single Sign-On, Active Directory) is preferred but not required.
- Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Basic technical skills, including familiarity with HTML/CSS and exposure to at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Java, or PHP).
- A willingness to learn and grow into troubleshooting integrations or investigating issues using application logs or command-line tools.
- Awareness of security and compliance topics in SaaS environments is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
