Reach more employees by making your communications inclusive and easy to access.
Staffbase enables all employees to participate in communications equally, regardless of their abilities. Our platform provides an accessible foundation, but true accessibility also depends on how content is written, media is embedded, and information is structured. That’s why we work in partnership: Staffbase delivers the tools, and communicators ensure every message reaches everyone.
Our accessibility standard
We set the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA as our standard and are constantly improving.
The four WCAG principles
The WCAG's success criteria are organised into four categories: perceivable, operable, understandable, robust.
Inclusive by design
We use universal design principles during development to ensure our platform can be used by everyone.
Removing barriers for everyone
We have awareness of a broad spectrum of disabilities and set the goal to remove barriers for all users.
Alternative text for images
Add alt text to images in News posts and Pages to improve accessibility for visually impaired employees that use a screen reader or braille display.
Clear interface
Consistent navigation and user-friendly search make it easy for employees to find their way around.
Screen reader compatibility
Staffbase is accessible with NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. Regular testing and improvements make navigation smooth and inclusive.
Keyboard navigation
Support for keyboards when navigating the platform, including interactive elements and highlighted visual focus.
Colors and contrast
Interface colors have a sufficient contrast ratio in accordance with the WCAG success criterion 1.4.3.
We work in partnership: Staffbase delivers the tools, and communicators ensure every message reaches everyone.

Has the platform been tested by people with disabilities?
The evaluations by our external partner are performed by accessibility testers including individuals with disabilities. In addition, we were able to gain new insights in regular sessions with a visually impaired key user from one of our enterprise customers.
Does the platform provide a built-in screen reader or buttons for adjusting the font size?
No, as it is recommended to cover this by browser or system-wide functions. People who rely on assistive technologies such as voice output do not just need them on one specific website or app, but on all of them and have already configured them accordingly. Our platform is designed so that assistive technology (e.g. screen readers) can interact with it.
Can we add an accessibility overlay to provide more features to our employees?
Products like accessibility overlays claim to improve or repair existing web platforms, but are unreliable and interfere with existing assistive technology. We strongly advise against including external accessibility overlays on our platform. You can read the joint statement by the European Disability Forum and the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, which the European Commission refers to. We are constantly improving our support for all types of assistive technology.
Can you guarantee us a fully accessible platform?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. Accessibility can depend heavily on specific customizations, structure and content. We give you the tools to make your content as accessible as possible. Our evaluations are performed on a sample platform that contains typical content and configuration.
