Manufacturing
Wieland has 200 years of experience in manufacturing of semi-finished goods. Today, the company employs about 8,000 employees at 80+ sites. As one of the world's leading specialists for copper and copper alloys, Wieland products can be found: in underfloor heating systems, heat recovery systems in supermarkets, electronic drive systems for e-cars, and even in the iPhone Lightning connector onboard the Orion spaceship! But Wieland’s innovation isn’t just limited to developing ground-breaking technology. They also want to lead in their internal communications.
Cleaning up the data heap
The old intranet at Wieland had become a confusing web of outdated data and pages that no one liked to use. In Wieland One, the amount of information has been reduced and curated, so that’s it’s simple to find and understand.
Reaching non-desk workers
Previously non-desk workers at Wieland were only reached via printed posters or terminals. With Wieland One’s mobile app, frontline employees can be reached in real time and have the chance to get involved directly with company comms and culture.
Creating a "We" feeling company-wide
Many of the employees across the company’s global locations had no real connection to their company. Wieland One goes beyond top-town comms to include employees and support a positive company culture organization-wide.
Wieland One enables all employees to see what’s happening globally, without losing local relevance.

Best practices for engaging non-desk workers with a modern internal communications strategy.
Using Wieland One, employees can find not only the latest news and information from internal communications, but also useful tools for their daily work like, an employee directory and the lunch menu. In addition, individual groups and departments like, the works council and IT, have their own dedicated pages where the can post updates. To keep comms interactive, employees can give feedback directly in the intranet via integrated surveys and can like and comment on announcements.
Wieland One also proved to be an extremely valuable tool for communication during the Corona pandemic. The internal communications team created a Corona page in the platform, where information about the topic is still available today. The Corona page was then linked on the homepage so that all employees could quickly find the information. To ensure that the news wasn’t lost in the feed, it's also marked with an extra symbol.
The new intranet was created with the goal of keeping employees up to date at all times and to accompany the transformation of the company and its culture - and we have achieved this.
